LEI Cost: Prices, Renewal and Multi-Year Terms
· Robert
LEI cost depends on the provider and the term you choose. At LEIFast, the listed prices are 49 € for 1 year, 135 € for 3 years and 195 € for 5 years, with the GLEIF fee included and VAT added where required. An LEI is not a one-off purchase: its data must be re-validated annually, even under a multi-year contract.
LEI cost: key points
- Compare the total price for the term, not just the first-year figure.
- Check whether the quoted price includes the GLEIF fee and whether VAT will be added.
- Ask what renewal will cost when the selected term ends.
- If you already have an LEI, check transfer terms before paying for a new registration.
LEI issuers set their own prices and provide registration, renewal and other services, according to GLEIF – LEI Questions and Answers (2024). A price comparison therefore needs to cover both the amount payable now and what happens when the term ends.
What are you paying for?
A first registration obtains an LEI for an entity that does not already have one. Renewal maintains the LEI’s current status by re-validating its data. These are related costs, but a first-year offer does not, by itself, tell you what a later renewal will cost.
GLEIF says LEIs are renewed annually. Issuers may also offer multi-year contracts paid when the LEI is issued; those contracts do not remove the annual data re-validation. When comparing prices, distinguish the length of the payment arrangement from the frequency of the data check.
At LEIFast, the listed term prices include the GLEIF fee, with VAT added where required. For another provider, check its own description of what the price includes rather than assuming that the same VAT basis or inclusions apply.
Why do LEI prices differ?
Providers set their own prices, and the selected term affects the amount paid upfront. A quote may also need closer examination if it does not clearly state its VAT basis, whether the GLEIF fee is included, or what a subsequent renewal costs. Compare those points on the same basis before treating two advertised figures as equivalent.
You are not limited to an issuer based in your own country. GLEIF – Get an LEI: find LEI issuing organizations says an entity can use any LEI issuer accredited for its jurisdiction and lists issuers with their jurisdictions. If you are assessing an offer from elsewhere, check jurisdiction coverage rather than relying on the provider’s location.
A lower advertised LEI price is useful only if it covers the service and term you need. Check the total payable, the applicable VAT treatment and the renewal terms. Those questions are more informative than a first-year price viewed in isolation.
One-year and multi-year terms
A one-year term has a smaller upfront payment than a longer LEIFast term. A multi-year term requires payment for the selected period when the LEI is issued, but it can lower the price per year. That difference concerns the price and payment schedule, not an exemption from annual data re-validation.
To compare terms fairly, divide each term’s total price by its length, then check the full amount you would pay upfront. Include any VAT that applies to your purchase. If you expect to keep the LEI beyond the selected term, ask about the price of renewing it when that term ends; the upfront figure alone does not answer that question.
LEI prices compared
The LEIFast prices below were checked on 4 November 2026. This international comparison does not assume a price for an issuer in any particular country: issuers set their own prices, so consult their current terms for a like-for-like comparison.
| Provider | 1 year | Renewal or multi-year option | VAT basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LEIFast | 49 € | 135 € for 3 years; 195 € for 5 years. Check the applicable renewal price when comparing a later term. | VAT added where required | LEIFast price list |
The listed LEIFast prices include the GLEIF fee. No other provider’s price is shown here, so the table is a starting point for comparing offers, not a ranking of providers.
Costs and terms to check before ordering
VAT can change the amount payable compared with a displayed price. Confirm whether VAT will be added for your purchase and make the same check for every offer you compare. Also verify whether the GLEIF fee is included in each quoted total.
Renewal deserves a separate check. If an LEI is not renewed by its next renewal date and the issuer’s grace period, its status becomes LAPSED, although the LEI number stays the same, according to the GLEIF blog – timely renewal of LEIs. For a closer look at that status, see the guide to lapsed LEIs and renewal. To renew an existing LEI, use the LEIFast renewal page.
If you already have an LEI, include transfer terms in your comparison rather than treating every offer as a new registration. At LEIFast, transfer has no separate fee, the existing 20-character code stays the same, and the normal term price applies. Check the terms of any other offer you are considering.
Checklist: compare LEI prices on the same basis
- Confirm whether the entity needs a first registration, a renewal or a transfer.
- Check that the issuer is accredited for the entity’s jurisdiction.
- Choose the term you want and record its total upfront price.
- Check whether the GLEIF fee is included and whether VAT will be added.
- Compare the price per year, while remembering that data re-validation remains annual.
- Ask what renewal will cost when the selected term ends and whether a transfer has a separate fee.

FAQ
How much does an LEI cost?
It depends on the issuer or Registration Agent and the term. At LEIFast an LEI costs 49 € for 1 year, 135 € for 3 years or 195 € for 5 years, GLEIF fee included and VAT added where required.
Is an LEI a one-off cost?
No. An LEI must be renewed every year. Some issuers offer multi-year contracts paid upfront, but the data is still re-validated every year.
Can I use a cheaper LEI issuer from another country?
Yes, if it is accredited for your jurisdiction. GLEIF says legal entities are not limited to an issuer in their own country.
Does transferring my LEI cost extra?
At LEIFast there is no transfer fee and the 20-character code stays the same; you pay the normal term price.
