A structured 20-character code

The characters identify the issuing organisation and the record, with check digits for validation. They do not reveal creditworthiness or ownership.

One code, refreshed yearly

The LEI itself does not change. Its reference data is confirmed annually; without renewal, the registration status becomes Lapsed.

A public record that identifies the legal entity behind a transaction.

The GLEIF index can show the entity’s official name, registry details, legal and headquarters addresses, status and, where reporting rules require it, direct and ultimate accounting parents.

Choose a 1-, 3- or 5-year plan, confirm the entity details and pay the term total. If the entity already has an LEI, renew or transfer it instead. You can verify any public record with our LEI search.
